All About Custom Filters for Integrations
Updated over a week ago

For any direct integration in GetEmails (Zapier not included), you can set up custom sync filters.

This feature allows you to filter your GetEmails contacts in specific ways when you send them to your ESP.

For example, you can send all contacts who hit different landing pages to separate lists. Or, send all of your California leads to one ESP and Texas leads to another.

Note: If you are setting up multiple integrations using the same API Key/ID, you only need to turn contact suppression on for one of those integrations.

How to set up a custom sync option

To set up a custom filter, head to Integrations. If you haven't set up an integration yet, that is your first step. Once you've set it up, find the Sync Options section and go to the Enable Custom Sync Options and check the box.

enable custom sync

That will display five filter options:

  • email domain

  • full or portion of a landing page URL

  • landing page domain

  • state (applicable if you are getting address as part of your data plan/subscription)

  • Referrer URL

Email domain: This field auto-fills/populates with email domains (ex. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL, etc.) from your collected contacts.

Full or portion of a landing page URL: If you’ve put the script on several pages or the entire site, this field allows you to pull out contacts who have only hit Landing Page A or Landing Page B. This option does not auto-populate, so you will have to add in the exact URL.

Landing page domain: If you added script to both GetEmails.com and Robly.com, for example, the landing page domain would be either GetEmails.com or Robly.com. This field will auto-populate.

State: This filter allows you to pull out only contacts from one or more states.

Referrer URL: This is the URL the contact comes to your site from.

How to send contacts from different pages or domains to separate lists

In order to send contacts from different landing pages or domains to separate lists, you'll create two (or more) separate versions of the same integration.

Domains

For example, if you have more than one domain that you've added the script to and want to send contacts from Domain A to List A and contacts from Domain B to List B, you will:

  1. Create the list names you want to use in your ESP

  2. Create/connect your integration

  3. Select the list you've created for Domain A to sync to;

  4. Select the custom sync filter for Landing Page domain and add Domain A; Save.

  5. Create/connect your integration again by going to Integrations > Available Integrations and clicking the icon.

  6. Select the list you've created for Domain B to sync to;

  7. Select the custom sync filter for Landing page domain and add Domain B; Save:

Landing Page URLs

If you want to send contacts that hit different landing pages to different lists, you will:

  1. Create the list names you want to use in your ESP

  2. Create/connect your integration

  3. Select the list you've created for Landing Page A to sync to;

  4. Select the custom sync filter for Landing Page URL and add Landing Page A; Save.

  5. Create/connect your integration again by going to Integrations > Available Integrations and clicking the icon.

  6. Select the list you've created for Landing Page B to sync to;

  7. Select the custom sync filter for Landing Page URL and add Landing Page B; Save:
